Auto detailing on Facebook
Facebook hashtags for detailers
Paint correction is a before and after by definition, and interior work is the most shareable transformation in the trade. Ranked tags, ten caption templates, and the lighting rule that stops the comments calling it fake.
Two or three, and they are the least of it
This is the honest page. Facebook hashtags do very little: the platform has no hashtag-browsing culture worth the name, and reach on a business page comes from shares, local groups and comments instead. Two or three tags cost nothing and occasionally help a local search. Treat them as a footnote and put the effort into the caption.
The 3 to start with
Copy this set, then replace the last one with your own city or suburb tag. That single swap does more for bookings than the other 2 put together, because detailers sell inside a radius.

30 Facebook hashtags for detailers
Ranked, not alphabetical. The starter set leads, then the tags native to Facebook, then the before and after tags, then the niche tags that convert, then the broad ones that only categorise. Local and plain-language tags. Nobody on Facebook follows a hashtag, but a suburb tag can surface in search and reads as local rather than as spam.
Broad
5 tagsMillions of posts. These reach far and convert badly. One is useful for categorisation, two is a waste of a slot you cannot spare.

Trade
14 tagsThe tags that name what you actually do. This is where most of a five-tag set should come from, and where the rotation happens.

Niche
11 tagsA single service, technique or community. Smallest reach, highest intent, and the tag most likely to put you in front of somebody who is ready to book.

The tags that say transformation
These are the ones worth a slot when the post is a genuine pair rather than a finished shot. They are pulled out of the list above rather than added to it, so nothing here is double counted.

10 before and after captions for detailers
Written for a before and after post specifically, not for a generic business feed, and shaped for Facebook rather than reused across all three platforms. Anything in curly braces is yours to fill in. A pair of photos or a short video, and a caption long enough to be worth reading. Facebook is the one platform where a longer caption helps.
This {car} belongs to a customer in {suburb} who was about to trade it in and thought the paint was past saving. It was not. The two photos below were taken {job time} apart in the same spot on the driveway.A lot of what people call faded paint is really thousands of fine scratches catching the light. Once those are levelled out, the colour comes back, which is exactly what you are seeing between these two photos of the same {car}.For anyone curious about what happens between the before and after: wash, clay, machine polish in sections, then a protective layer over the top so the finish holds for a while. About {job time} all up.I have a few {service} spots left around {suburb} this {season}. The photos below are what a standard booking at {price} looks like, before and after, same afternoon. Most of my work comes from people in {suburb} showing their mates a photo like this one. Thank you to whoever passed my number on for this {car}.Honest question for {suburb}: does the before photo look like your car a day or two after a wash? For a lot of people it does, and that gap is the whole point of a proper detail.Took me {job time} and three coffees, and most of that was the polishing stage that never makes it into a photo. The after gets all the credit for work you cannot actually see.If your {car} is looking closer to the first photo than the second, send a few pictures through and I will come back with a price and a rough time.{season} around {suburb} means road grime, tree sap and dust in every vent. Here is one interior and exterior before and after, same {car}, same day.I will be honest, the before photo is the reason I got this job. The owner sent it to me and asked whether anything could be done with a {car} that looked like that. What actually works for detailers
Shoot on an overcast day, or in the same shade both times
The failure that gets called out in the comments every time is a before shot in direct sun and an after shot in shade. Natural daylight on an overcast day shows true paint clarity without harsh reflections, and it is the same in both frames.
Interior transformations out share exterior ones
A filthy footwell to a showroom footwell is a harder visual delta than corrected paint, and it needs no explanation to a viewer who knows nothing about swirl marks.
The half corrected panel is the strongest single frame you own
Tape a line down the bonnet, correct one side, and photograph both at once. It answers the fake accusation before anyone makes it, because both halves are visibly the same panel in the same light.
One local slot, permanently
A mobile detailer sells inside a radius. With five Instagram slots, a city tag is not optional, and the four remaining slots are where the rotation happens.
Seasonality
Spring and summer peak hard, autumn and winter demand drops off sharply. A content calendar that maps to it: winter salt removal in spring, paint protection in summer, weather prep in autumn, undercarriage work and gift cards in winter. Pivot to education in the slow months rather than going quiet.
Shooting a pair that survives the comments
Same angle, same distance, same light, and the car in the same position on the driveway. Move your feet and the reflection changes, which is the whole subject. For interiors, shoot with the door open the same amount both times, because the amount of daylight falling on a seat changes the apparent colour more than the cleaning does.
The universal rule underneath all of that, stated independently by sources in every trade researched for this site: identical angle, identical lighting, both frames. Any variance and the transformation reads as dishonest. There is more on that in the guide to matching the shot twice and in why before and afters look fake.
Tags to keep off a detailer post
Instagram publishes no official banned list and gives no warning when a tag is restricted. Every tag below was flagged by at least one source during research on 1 August 2026, and these lists rotate. Check any tag you use habitually by searching it inside the app: if the tag page says recent posts are hidden, or returns almost nothing, drop it.
- #mirrorselfieFlagged, and the obvious tag on a mirror finish reflection shot.
- #showerFlagged, and reached for on foam cannon rinse content.
- #saltwaterFlagged, and the natural tag on winter road salt removal.
- #modelsFlagged. So are sexy, woman and curvygirls, all of which turn up on showroom shoots in this trade.
- #hardworkpaysoffFlagged, and the standard owner operator caption.
- #rateRate this correction is a direct trap for before and after posts. Flagged.
- #dmDM for a quote is the standard detailing call to action and the tag is flagged.

The numbers behind the trade
Where these tags came from
Researched on 1 August 2026. Tiers are an editorial judgement from cross source frequency, not a post count: the directory sites that publish counts disagreed with each other by an order of magnitude during research, so none are quoted here.
Common questions
- How many hashtags should detailers use on Facebook?
- This is the honest page. Facebook hashtags do very little: the platform has no hashtag-browsing culture worth the name, and reach on a business page comes from shares, local groups and comments instead. Two or three tags cost nothing and occasionally help a local search. Treat them as a footnote and put the effort into the caption. The starter set at the top of this page is built to that number: One local, one trade, one plain descriptive.
- Are these Facebook hashtags for detailers up to date?
- Every tag on this page was seen in real use during a research sweep on 1 August 2026, across trade press, supplier blogs, platform discover pages and live captions. No tag here was invented and no post counts are quoted, because the directory sites that publish counts contradicted each other badly enough to make any single figure indefensible.
- Can I just paste all thirty into one post?
- No, and on Instagram you physically cannot: the cap is five and it counts captions and comments together. The thirty on this page are a rotation pool. Take the starter set, swap one or two per post to match what you actually photographed, and keep your location tag in place permanently.
- How do I turn a before and after pair into a video?
- Pick the two photos in Before and After Video Maker, choose a reveal style, and export a 1080p video, a looping GIF or a still. The input is two still photographs: the app cannot compare two video clips, and nothing on this site suggests otherwise.
Now make the video in Before and After Video Maker
Pick the before and the after, choose a reveal, and export a 1080p video, a looping GIF or a still sized for Facebook. Eight templates and all four comparison modes are free, and the input is two still photographs.
