Hashtags and captions for detailers
Paint correction is a before and after by definition, and interior work is the most shareable transformation in the trade. Ranked tags, ten caption templates, and the lighting rule that stops the comments calling it fake.
Detailing has the clearest platform split of the vehicle trades. On TikTok the winning pattern is a satisfying and ASMR cluster with only two or three trade tags attached. On Instagram it inverts completely: trade tag, service tag, location tag, and the satisfying tags become decoration. The service tags in particular skew to Instagram and Facebook, because that is where buyers and suppliers sit.
Three platforms, three different sets
These are not the same five tags reshuffled. Instagram leans on community and trade identity, TikTok on content type and outcome, Facebook on plain local language. Copy the one you are posting to, then swap the last tag for your own city.
#cardetailing #paintcorrection #ceramiccoating #detailersofinstagram #beforeandafter
Community and identity tags. Half the value of an Instagram tag is that a trade magazine, a supplier or a repost account watches it.
Instagram hashtags for detailersTikTok
Three to five, by convention not by rule#detailtok #satisfying #cardetailing #interiordetailing #detailersoftiktok
Content-type and outcome tags. Every trade has a tok suffix community tag, and the satisfying and ASMR lane is a real distribution channel rather than a joke.

Local and plain-language tags. Nobody on Facebook follows a hashtag, but a suburb tag can surface in search and reads as local rather than as spam.
Facebook hashtags for detailersEvery tag this trade actually uses
Grouped by tier rather than ranked, because rank depends on which platform you are posting to and that lives on the platform pages. Tags marked below are Instagram or TikTok native; the rest work on both.
Broad
8Millions of posts. These reach far and convert badly. One is useful for categorisation, two is a waste of a slot you cannot spare.
Trade
17The tags that name what you actually do. This is where most of a five-tag set should come from, and where the rotation happens.
Niche
15A single service, technique or community. Smallest reach, highest intent, and the tag most likely to put you in front of somebody who is ready to book.
What works for detailers
Shoot on an overcast day, or in the same shade both times
The failure that gets called out in the comments every time is a before shot in direct sun and an after shot in shade. Natural daylight on an overcast day shows true paint clarity without harsh reflections, and it is the same in both frames.
Interior transformations out share exterior ones
A filthy footwell to a showroom footwell is a harder visual delta than corrected paint, and it needs no explanation to a viewer who knows nothing about swirl marks.
The half corrected panel is the strongest single frame you own
Tape a line down the bonnet, correct one side, and photograph both at once. It answers the fake accusation before anyone makes it, because both halves are visibly the same panel in the same light.
One local slot, permanently
A mobile detailer sells inside a radius. With five Instagram slots, a city tag is not optional, and the four remaining slots are where the rotation happens.
Seasonality
Spring and summer peak hard, autumn and winter demand drops off sharply. A content calendar that maps to it: winter salt removal in spring, paint protection in summer, weather prep in autumn, undercarriage work and gift cards in winter. Pivot to education in the slow months rather than going quiet.
The shot
Same angle, same distance, same light, and the car in the same position on the driveway. Move your feet and the reflection changes, which is the whole subject. For interiors, shoot with the door open the same amount both times, because the amount of daylight falling on a seat changes the apparent colour more than the cleaning does.
Tags to keep off a detailer post
Instagram publishes no official banned list and gives no warning when a tag is restricted. Every tag below was flagged by at least one source during research on 1 August 2026, and these lists rotate. Check any tag you use habitually by searching it inside the app: if the tag page says recent posts are hidden, or returns almost nothing, drop it.
- #mirrorselfieFlagged, and the obvious tag on a mirror finish reflection shot.
- #showerFlagged, and reached for on foam cannon rinse content.
- #saltwaterFlagged, and the natural tag on winter road salt removal.
- #modelsFlagged. So are sexy, woman and curvygirls, all of which turn up on showroom shoots in this trade.
- #hardworkpaysoffFlagged, and the standard owner operator caption.
- #rateRate this correction is a direct trap for before and after posts. Flagged.
- #dmDM for a quote is the standard detailing call to action and the tag is flagged.
Captions, by platform

Where these tags came from
Researched on 1 August 2026 across trade press, supplier blogs, platform discover pages and live captions. Every tag was seen in real use. Tiers are an editorial judgement from cross source frequency, not a post count.
Common questions
- What hashtags should auto detailers use?
- 40 tags are listed on this page, tiered from broad to niche, and each of the three platform pages ranks a thirty tag rotation pool out of them for that platform. Start with the platform starter set, and spend one slot permanently on your own city.
- Why are the Instagram and TikTok lists different?
- Because the platforms reward different things. Instagram tags are community and identity tags, and half their value is that a trade magazine or supplier account watches them. TikTok tags are content type and outcome tags, and every trade has a tok suffix community tag. Running one list on both is the most common mistake in the trades.
- How many hashtags can I use now?
- Instagram capped captions on posts and Reels at five hashtags, announced in December 2025 and rolled out through 2026, and it counts the caption and the comments together. TikTok publishes no cap and three to five is the convention. On Facebook hashtags do very little and two or three is plenty.
- Can I compare two video clips in the app?
- No. Before and After Video Maker takes two still photographs in and puts a video, a GIF or an image out. It has no timeline and no trimming, and nothing on this site suggests otherwise.
The tags are the easy half
The post still needs a pair of photographs that match. Shoot them, then turn them into a 1080p video, a looping GIF or a still in Before and After Video Maker. Eight templates and all four comparison modes are free.
