Window cleaning on Instagram
Instagram hashtags for window cleaners
The single squeegee stroke is the best two second hook in the trades. Ranked tags, ten caption templates, and the honest warning about which half of this tag list only reaches other window cleaners.
Five, and it is a hard cap
Instagram announced on 19 December 2025 that captions on posts and Reels would be limited to five hashtags, and rolled it out globally through 2026. Caption and comments count together, so splitting them buys nothing. Anything above five is either blocked at publish or stripped.
The 5 to start with
Copy this set, then replace the last one with your own city or suburb tag. That single swap does more for bookings than the other 4 put together, because window cleaners sell inside a radius.

30 Instagram hashtags for window cleaners
Ranked, not alphabetical. The starter set leads, then the tags native to Instagram, then the before and after tags, then the niche tags that convert, then the broad ones that only categorise. Community and identity tags. Half the value of an Instagram tag is that a trade magazine, a supplier or a repost account watches it.
Broad
2 tagsMillions of posts. These reach far and convert badly. One is useful for categorisation, two is a waste of a slot you cannot spare.

Niche
14 tagsA single service, technique or community. Smallest reach, highest intent, and the tag most likely to put you in front of somebody who is ready to book.

The tags that say transformation
These are the ones worth a slot when the post is a genuine pair rather than a finished shot. They are pulled out of the list above rather than added to it, so nothing here is double counted.

10 before and after captions for window cleaners
Written for a before and after post specifically, not for a generic business feed, and shaped for Instagram rather than reused across all three platforms. Anything in curly braces is yours to fill in. Carousel and Reel. A carousel earns a swipe per slide, which is a dwell signal a single split image never gets.

Decide who the post is for before you pick the five
Trade community tags reach peers and suppliers. Service and local tags reach customers. Both are legitimate, but mixing them across five slots means you do neither well. Alternate by post rather than blending.
The single stroke reveal is an ASMR asset first
One squeegee pass across a filthy pane is a satisfying video that happens to be a service demo. Lead with the satisfying and transformation tags on those, and carry only one or two trade tags.
Geo tag every post
This is a round, not a national business. A city and service compound is the highest intent tag you have and it deserves a permanent slot.
Two or three posts a week, on a fixed pattern
A schedule that works in this trade: one before and after early in the week, one customer story midweek, one tip or FAQ at the end. Cross post the same clip to Instagram thirty to sixty minutes after TikTok rather than simultaneously.
Seasonality
Spring is busiest and most homeowners book twice a year, spring and autumn. Northern rounds can lose up to a third of revenue in winter. Front load February to April, run gutter and solar panel crossover in autumn, and use winter for interior glass and shower screen content.
Shooting a pair that survives the comments
Shoot from inside the room, not outside, and stand in exactly the same place. The half cleaned pane is the strongest frame: one stroke down the middle with the dirty half still there. Clean the frames and tracks before the after shot, because clean glass in a dirty frame still reads as dirty on camera.
The universal rule underneath all of that, stated independently by sources in every trade researched for this site: identical angle, identical lighting, both frames. Any variance and the transformation reads as dishonest. There is more on that in the guide to matching the shot twice and in why before and afters look fake.
Tags to keep off a window cleaner post
Instagram publishes no official banned list and gives no warning when a tag is restricted. Every tag below was flagged by at least one source during research on 1 August 2026, and these lists rotate. Check any tag you use habitually by searching it inside the app: if the tag page says recent posts are hidden, or returns almost nothing, drop it.
- #elevatorFlagged, and specifically relevant here because high rise and lift access rigs are a genuine content category in this trade.
- #showerFlagged, and reached for on shower glass restoration, which is one of the best before and afters you can shoot.
- #glovesFlagged, and a natural PPE tag.
- #hardworkpaysoffFlagged, and the standard caption on a ladder day.
- #rateFlagged, and exactly the tag a rate this reveal post reaches for.
- #dmDM for a quote is the standard call to action and the tag is flagged.
- #streetphotoFlagged, and tempting on a shopfront job with a good street reflection.

The numbers behind the trade
Where these tags came from
Researched on 1 August 2026. Tiers are an editorial judgement from cross source frequency, not a post count: the directory sites that publish counts disagreed with each other by an order of magnitude during research, so none are quoted here.
Common questions
- How many hashtags should window cleaners use on Instagram?
- Instagram announced on 19 December 2025 that captions on posts and Reels would be limited to five hashtags, and rolled it out globally through 2026. Caption and comments count together, so splitting them buys nothing. Anything above five is either blocked at publish or stripped. The starter set at the top of this page is built to that number: One broad, two trade, one before and after, one local.
- Are these Instagram hashtags for window cleaners up to date?
- Every tag on this page was seen in real use during a research sweep on 1 August 2026, across trade press, supplier blogs, platform discover pages and live captions. No tag here was invented and no post counts are quoted, because the directory sites that publish counts contradicted each other badly enough to make any single figure indefensible.
- Can I just paste all thirty into one post?
- No, and on Instagram you physically cannot: the cap is five and it counts captions and comments together. The thirty on this page are a rotation pool. Take the starter set, swap one or two per post to match what you actually photographed, and keep your location tag in place permanently.
- How do I turn a before and after pair into a video?
- Pick the two photos in Before and After Video Maker, choose a reveal style, and export a 1080p video, a looping GIF or a still. The input is two still photographs: the app cannot compare two video clips, and nothing on this site suggests otherwise.
Now make the video in Before and After Video Maker
Pick the before and the after, choose a reveal, and export a 1080p video, a looping GIF or a still sized for Instagram. Eight templates and all four comparison modes are free, and the input is two still photographs.
